I'm going to go all-out this time. I'm beginning work on the first WindowBlind in a trilogy of themes. The family of themes is caled Valence Shell, which will be futuristic and sci-fi.

Each theme will include skins for WindowBlinds, ObjectDock, IconPackager, and possibly CursorFX.

I am starting off with Valence Shell 1: Plasma Canon, which is a steel mixed with a little dark glass, and a lot of plasma green highlights.

Valence Shell 2: Ultra Violet and Valence Shell 3: Proton Beam will follow.

These skins will be designed for Windows 7, Vista & XP.

Here's a quick update on where I'm at.

Oh my, that is looking totally spot on... like WOW!!!!!

Thanks Starkers!

Evidentally, Pop-up menu item text must be among those pesky things in SKS that can't be edited, even though there are settings for them.

Well, Brysgirl gave me a work around idea that might just work. If it doesn't, I either pray that Neil fixes the settings, or I punt.

Here's a quick update on where I'm at. Yep. I'm slow.

Not at all Brian! You take your time and do it right...which I know you will...but no rush bud!

Mirsguy

also watch the gradient banding in the start menu glass.

Please excuse the "Duh" factor, but what the heck is that?

Gradient banding is a visible line where one color ends and the next starts, like bands of color, instead of a smooth transition from one color to the next.

Thanks.

You're welcome, Willi.

Well, the menus are not exactly what I wanted, but they're pretty close.

Progress on Window Frames:

on Jun 23, 2010

Wow Brian, you're making progress quickly!! Ugh, I wish I had your work ethic......

on Jun 23, 2010

Progressing along nicely Brian, t ake as much time as you need!

Thanks guys. The top window frame will be changing. As do many things in skinning, I have realized after applying in real life (instead of just in mock-up form) it doesn't look and perform just as it should.

Absolutely spot on. starkers, too.

You've got real talent, fella. No doubting it. Like the frames. I wonder if an animated solar system type start button in possible? Probably too small...but maybe one planet? Hmmmm....or not. Up to you Brian...you just gotta make yourself happy!

I like it a lot - very nice design.

I would move the Max, Min, and close buttons a bit up in the middle of the tittle bar.

A better and kind of round start button would also be a better choice.

It's only my side of view.

Superb work once again.

I believe the buttons shown are the unskinned/default buttons. I'm sure the final will be very different.

Oh, and I've got plans for the start button.

Yall gotta quit making mouseovers that have a mouseover graphic AND a text color change. I can't match that in DX.  You're making my life difficult...lol!!
